Security Patches
15 Jun 2011 Filed in: Software Updates
On Tuesday, both Adobe and Microsoft released critical security updates.
Your Mac Guy recommends that all users install them. Here’s how.

Microsoft released updates to the 2004, 2008, and 2011 versions of its Office for Mac software, citing security concerns.
To get the update, open any MIcrosoft Office program: Word, Excel, Powerpoint or Outlook. Click on “Check for Updates” under Help in the menubar. When prompted, accept the update, and enter your username and password to authorize the update. Depending on which version of Office you have, and whether you have installed previous updates, you may have to install several updates.
You can also download the updates directly from Microsoft here, but updating within the program is easier.

For the second time in nine days, Adobe patched a critical vulnerability in Flash Player that hackers were already exploiting. There is also a security update for Adobe Reader and Reader X.
To get the update, launch the program, and click on “Check for Updates” under Help in the menubar. When prompted, accept the update, and enter your username and password to authorize the update.
